We are proud to welcome Dr. Nikita Dhir to our team this October. Dr. Dhir sees patients at our Central Austin location, with clinical interests in diabetes, thyroid disorders, and osteoporosis.
Dr. Dhir chose endocrinology because it combines medical problem-solving with the opportunity to build long-term relationships with patients. Hormones affect many systems in the body, and she enjoys understanding how conditions are connected and helping patients manage their health over time.
She also believes education plays an important role in treatment. Whether helping someone manage diabetes, osteoporosis, or understand a thyroid condition, Dr. Dhir works to give patients the information they need to participate in decisions about their care.
“Seeing patients gain a better understanding of their health and improve their quality of life is what makes endocrinology particularly meaningful to me,” she says.
Training in Internal Medicine and Endocrinology
A Texas native, Dr. Dhir earned her undergraduate degree and an MBA in Health Organization Management from Texas Tech University before attending Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center for medical school.
She completed her Internal Medicine residency at Baylor Scott & White Medical Center in Temple, Texas. She then pursued fellowship training in Endocrinology at UT Health Sciences Center at Houston, where she served as Chief Fellow.
Joining the Texas Diabetes & Endocrinology Team
Dr. Dhir wanted to join a practice focused on endocrinology, where she could work alongside experienced specialists and stay current with developments in diabetes and hormone-related care.
She was also drawn to TDE’s emphasis on patient education and helping people take an active role in managing their health. For patients living with chronic conditions, understanding treatment options and having an ongoing relationship with their physician can be an important part of care.
Dr. Dhir recently relocated to Austin to be closer to family and looks forward to caring for patients in the community.
Life Outside the Clinic
Outside of medicine, Dr. Dhir enjoys traveling, practicing yoga and Pilates, reading, and spending time with her husband and daughter. She speaks both Hindi and English.
