We believe that Diabetes management options have never been better and that people with Diabetes can lead a healthy, fulfilling life. We are advisors and work on individualized treatment plans to help our patients manage their health.

As a Diabetic patient at TD&E, you can expect appointments with several levels of Diabetes experts. In addition to regularly scheduled appointments with your Endocrinologist, you will also develop an on-going relationship with your advanced practice providers and nutritionist. We help you take control of your diabetes and give our providers extra time to address your needs.

Our doctors and advanced practice providers are experts in both Type 1 and Type 2 Diabetes. Our advanced practice providers are also Certified Diabetes Care and Education Specialists (CDCES). Our entire team is up to date with the latest treatment options available including nutrition, lifestyle and other alternatives in addition to conventional treatments. New treatments related to Diabetes are bountiful at this time and our team is vigilant at evaluating new treatments that are coming to the market. Whether there are new medications or devices, we are part of the movement to make Diabetes easier to manage on a day to day basis.

We offer a full range of Diabetes services:

Dietitian services by Texas Nutrition Consultants

As Registered Dieticians, Texas Nutrition Consultants are the food and nutrition experts who can translate the science of nutrition into practical solutions for healthy living. They have the background knowledge and expertise to guide our patients to develop a healthy eating plan that works for them.

Insulin pumps

Insulin pumps are a great tool for many of our Diabetes patients. They allow for patients to manage their Diabetes through a device that delivers insulin and can help diminish or eliminate multiple injections daily. Pump Company links: Animas, Medtronic MiniMed, OmniPod, Tandem Diabetes Care

Continuous glucose monitoring

CGMS is a new and improving technology that allows a person with diabetes to obtain a blood sugar reading every 5 minutes. A small "filament" is inserted like a needle into designated site and this filament is attached to a tiny external recorder or transmitter. Some pumps have continuous glucose monitoring integrated into them.

CGMS is available at TD&E in two forms:

  • A temporary CGM, which we set up at the office and the patient wears for 10 business days while it continuously records the glucose readings. The results from this test are downloaded at the end of the allotted days and interpreted by your Advanced Practice Provider.
  • A “Personal” Continuous monitor, owned by the patient, which is used to obtain "real time" glucose readings on an on-going basis. The technology can be used to detect low and high sugars and help improve diabetes control.
